Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a timber deck last in Queensland?

A properly built hardwood deck with quality materials and regular maintenance will last 25+ years. Composite decks last 25+ years with virtually no maintenance and most carry a 25-year warranty.

Do I need council approval for a deck?

In Queensland, decks under 10sqm and below 1m high typically don't need approval. Larger or higher decks usually require building approval and engineer's certification. We handle the paperwork either way.

How much does a deck cost?

Pricing depends on size, height, materials, and complexity. As a rough guide, hardwood decks run $400–$700 per square metre installed. Composite slightly higher up front but lower lifetime cost.

Hardwood vs composite — which is better?

Hardwood looks more natural and costs less up front. Composite needs zero maintenance, lasts longer, and won't splinter. We help you choose based on your priorities and budget.

How long does a deck build take?

Most residential decks take 1–2 weeks from start to finish. Larger or more complex builds with engineering and council approval can run 3–6 weeks total project time.
